SharePoint Administration Case Study
A premier global financial advisory firm, with offices across the United States, required assistance maintaining and administering their global SharePoint environment. The number of hours and type of admin work needed fluctuated week by week to the point where hiring a SharePoint administrator full time was not economically advisable.
Total Solutions was able to provide a staff augmentation option to perform SharePoint System Administration and Site Collection Administration on an allocated-schedule basis. We assigned a lead SharePoint Administrator whose main responsibilities were communicating with the client’s management team, performing On-site System Admin activities, and delegating Off-Site System Admin and Site Collection Admin tasks to our resources. While on-site, the lead SharePoint Administrator conducts an Admin meeting with relevant client personnel to review Admin work performed during the previous week, discuss current issues and options for resolution, and finalize the next week’s work. Off-site activities involved internal management of additional Admin work by the Lead SharePoint Administrator after coming on-site. The Lead admin decomposed the work requested and created a task list, scheduled the appropriate resources for the work needed, and assigned tasks to those resources. As part of the staff augmentation, the firm had access to our full SharePoint development staff from low-level Admin services to high level SharePoint designer work.
As a company that had a variety of SharePoint Administration work but did not want to bring on a full-time employee to manage that work, the financial firm was a perfect candidate for our Service Level Agreement. The client was able to take advantage of our full SharePoint development staff, ranging from low-level site maintenance to higher-level SharePoint design, on a weekly as needed basis. The Service Level Agreement allows clients such as this one to save the cost of hiring an additional full-time employee while empowering them with a full staff of SharePoint developers to maximize their SharePoint functionalities.
